Come along and hear Wing Commander Mike Pollitt (RAF Retired) speak about the history and development of the Avro Vulcan, its role during the Cold War and his experiences flying the mighty delta during his time with the Royal Air Force.
Mike is a former Operations Director of the Vulcan to the Sky Trust and is now Chairman of the 655 Maintenance and Preservation Society (655 MaPS) which looks after Vulcan XM655 at Wellesbourne Mountford Airfield, Warwickshire.
Like the VRT, 655 MaPS preserves its Vulcan in live ground running condition. Mike will also talk about the society's work preserving XM655 and the challenges it faces.
The event includes the 2020 VRT Annual General Meeting. This will include a look back at the Trust's work last year preserving Vulcan XL426 and its plans for the future.
Teas, coffees, licensed bar and light refreshments will be available. Doors 12.00 noon, event starts at 1.00pm.
Event location is Hawkwell Village Hall, Main Road, Hawkwell, Essex SS5 4EH.
There is limited car parking available at the hall itself but there is plenty of on-street parking nearby.
Entry for VRT Members is free (no ticket required but please bring membership card).
Non-members are, of course, very welcome and tickets, priced £8.00 each, can be purchased in advance or on the door on the day.
