A unique screening of the 1964 James Bond film ‘Goldfinger’ starring Sean Connery in Hangar 5 at London Southend Airport.
The film, which also stars Honor Blackman as Pussy Galore, sees powerful tycoon Auric Goldfinger initiate a cataclysmic scheme, code-named Operation Grand Slam, to raid the American gold reserve at Fort Knox and obliterate the world economy. James Bond, armed with his specially equipped Aston Martin, must stop the plan by overcoming several outrageous adversaries.
Southend Airport features briefly in the film, so this an opportunity to watch the film at one of its locations.
The ‘cinema’ will be inside airport Hangar 5 with Vulcan XL426 parked outside. There will be the chance to take a free external tour of the aircraft before the film starts and visits to the cockpit (subject to availability) will also take place for a small additional charge. We will put power on the Vulcan before the film starts so visitors can see its bomb doors open and close, and its flying control surfaces move.
An Aston Martin DB5 sports car, which features in 'Goldfinger', will be parked alongside the Vulcan.
To capture that real cinema feel, there will a doughnut, ice cream and popcorn kiosk as well as a licensed bar selling beers, lagers, wines and soft drinks.
Car parking will be available - details will be sent out with event tickets. Over 12s only please.
Gates open at 6.00 pm with the film screening starting at 8.00 pm.
VRT Members: £11.00
