Dance the night away at our 1940s & '50s themed Vulcan Hangar Dance with the Sid Bolan Big Band.
The dance will take place in the Vulcan Restoration Trust's hangar at London Southend Airport, known as Royal Air Force Rochford during the Second World War.
The 18-piece band will be playing a selection of dance hits from the wartime and post-war years. If you're a beginner, or your dancing skills need a brush-up, the Air Raid Jive Dance School will start the evening with a 30 minute fun 'tutorial' so everyone can hone their dance moves for the evening to come!
The hangar doors will open at 6.00 pm and the Air Raid Jive Dance School will begin at 7.30 pm. The Sid Bolan Big Band will then join us at 8.00 pm and will play until 10.30 pm.
We encourage everyone attending to dress vintage to give the evening an authentic '40s and '50s 'feel'. But please wrap-up warm as aircraft hangars aren't the hottest places and it will be October!
There will be a licensed pay bar. Refreshments, including hot and cold food, will be on sale throughout the evening.
Vulcan XL426's cockpit will be open to visitors from 6.00 pm until the dancing begins. Cockpit visits cost £5.00 per person and will be subject to availability on the evening. Vulcan souvenirs will also be on sale.
VRT Members: £12.00
Admission is by advance ticket only - there will be no tickets on sale on the evening.
We look forward to seeing you for an enjoyable evening at our 40s & 50s Vulcan Hangar Dance.
