XH558 Says Farewell – Salute the V-Force 28 June 2015

Sunday, 28 June, 2015 - 10:00 to 16:00

XH558, the world's last flying Vulcan, will be making a final farewell visit to Vulcan XL426 with a unique fly past at London Southend Airport this Sunday 28 June.

To coincide with this unique event we are holding a special 'Salute to the V-Force' open day with XL426 open to the public from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. XH558 is expected to fly over at 2.26 pm although this time may change due to weather and aircraft serviceability. We hope XH558 will perform a mini display for us.

XH558 was restored to flying condition in 2007 but is retiring from the skies at the end of this summer. Her flying visit to Southend is part of a spectacular tour around the country where she is saluting the Vulcan, Victor and Valiant aircraft she served alongside in the Royal Air Force.

Our 'Salute to the V-Force' open day will be the last chance many people will get to witness the awesome sight and sound of a Vulcan aerial display, and what better place to see it than standing next to Southend's very own Vulcan! We hope that as many people as possible can come along to enjoy this unique experience with us.

The event will raise funds to help preserve Vulcan XL426. Our souvenir stand will be open selling a selection of Vulcan items including badges, patches, postcards, books and other gifts.

Admission charges are only £3.50 with under-16s allowed in free. An additional charge of £3.00 per person regardless of age applies for cockpit visits.

There is limited free parking in the Lancaster Cafe car park (for this Salute the V-Force Day - Vulcan visitors who also use the Lancaster Cafe). The car park is just 150 yards from the Vulcan. You can also park in London Southend Airport’s short stay car parks, for which there is a charge.
Alternatively you can leave the car at home and travel by train to London Southend Airport station, which is only two minutes walk from the Vulcan. The station is served by frequent trains on the London Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria line. Turn right when leaving the station and follow the signs to the Vulcan.

Sorry – we regret that no pets can be admitted with the exception of assistance dogs.
